The Difference In Nail Services At A Day Spa

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Day spas offer a variety of beauty and relaxation services to their clientele.  Manicure and pedicure services may be offered alone or as a package with other services.  If you normally receive your manicures at a nail salon, you will be surprised at the differences between spa services and those offered by your local manicure shop.

Most nail shops smell of chemicals.  Manicurists wear masks to prevent them from breathing in acrylic dust.  The odors and dust in the air can be overpowering and the bright fluorescent lighting prevents relaxation.  Nail salons attempt to counter this by using massage chairs for pedicure customers, but the lights and noise are distracting and stressful.

Day spa manicures and pedicures have an entirely different atmosphere.  The emphasis is on the individual client.  Most spa manicures include a hand and arm massage which contributes to relaxation.  Products used in day spas generally have a pleasant and relaxing aroma. More emphasis is placed on the health of skin and nails. Overhead lights are not as bright and there is much less noise.

Pedicures also include foot and leg massages.  Special treatments are available.  The health of the nail and the feet are considered.  Recommendations for improving nail and foot health may be made.  You may choose from different treatments to stimulate or relax the feet and lower legs.  The feet are a very sensitive area of the body and a pedicure can help with overall stress relief.

Day spa nail treatments, manicures and pedicures usually last between thirty minutes and one hour depending on the particular service selected.  These services are often included in day spa packages and bundled with facials and massage therapy.  The cost of the packages varies according to the services offered, but packages usually save over getting services separately.

Most day spas consider themselves to be more oriented toward the client’s health than salons.  Although spas offer beauty treatments, they do so with an eye to relaxation.  They often use natural products when possible and take a holistic approach to beauty.  They don’t just try to make you look better, they try to make you actually feel better.  Feeling better naturally improves your appearance.

The cost of a manicure and pedicure at a day spa is not much more than the cost at a nail salon.  The difference is in the service you will receive at a spa.  The focus is on you, the client, and your every comfort is considered.  A spa manicure or pedicure can include as much as 15 or 20 minutes of massage.  A salon manicure usually has about two or three minutes of massage.

All the employees at a day spa who interact with clients are licensed professionals who take pride in their work and want to assist their clients to look and feel their best.  Spas pride themselves on the quality of their employees and the quality of the services they offer.  If you want to experience the best manicure and pedicure you’ve ever had, make an appointment at a day spa today.

I Am Going To Nola For Spring Break This Year. Do You Know Of Any Day Spas In That Area.?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

I was looking for ones that have a great atmosphere and easy to find and not to pricey. I looked @ the Ritz and it was high. Unless that is just how spas are in the big city. Thanks so much!

Body Wraps, Day Spas and a Tighter You

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

One of the more popular additions to day spas in recent years are what are known as body wraps. Body wraps are designed to help you get the appearance of tighter, firmer skin. They are supposed to be slimming, and they purport to help you achieve lost inches around the waist, hips, and thighs, as well as other parts of the body including the arms and face. There are different kinds of wraps, and you should carefully consider which wrap you take advantage of before choosing to wear one.

Most day spas offer the wraps as part of their treatments. Some of them make use of mud, seaweed, or oils. Others take what amounts to plastic wrap and encase you in it. Some spas have you lie down to nap, while others request that you move about the room in order enhance the effects. Movements around the room are generally small, and you will probably not even break a sweat. Napping, though, can be a very refreshing alternative. Many people get the body wraps for their soothing qualities as well as for their ability to help one give the appearance of slimness.

Wraps to be careful of are mainly those that impede the air exchange through the skin, or those that make you appear slimmer by drawing water out of your body. Both of these things can be harmful to your health. While the effects are rarely long lasting, it is not good for your body to be restricted in this way. Plastic wraps can inhibit the air exchange through your skin, and can cause overheating as well as dehydration. Some ingredients in some wraps draw water out of your body, causing the possibility of dehydration. Before getting a wrap, make sure that your wrap will not dehydrate you.

It is important to note that the effects of a body wrap are not permanent. A body wrap in no way actually helps you lose weight or fat. What they do is help your skin to take on a particular shape, and to help it achieve smoothness and toning. It does not actually do anything to the muscles underneath. So, while a wrap can help you get ready for a special occasion, it will not last. Lasting effects can only be achieved by getting “maintenance wraps” every few weeks. However, the good effects of a body wrap can be enhanced with exercise and a healthy diet. Exercise and diet are the best ways to gain lean muscle and lose weight.

Body wraps are popular with brides-to-be just prior to their wedding day, as well as with men and women going to formal events or reunions. This is because a body wrap can help you look your best, even if it is only temporarily. And they can be soothing. Many people find body wraps comfortable and rejuvenating, even without the slimming effects they give. Results are generally more dramatic for women than for men, even though men can see dramatic results as well.
